a sunny day, and a stage presence that lights up a room, Jodie
kicked off her career a whopping three decades ago.
Jodie is a Radio Personality, Podcaster, Producer,
Inspirational Speaker and Writer with an expertise
in voice-overs, audiobooks, ads, videos, and so
much more. Not just a radio queen, she's also
graced the stage at countless Christian women's
gatherings dishing out wisdom on topics about
‘Healing’, ‘Self-Discovery’ and divine messages like
‘Finding Your God-Given Identity’.

You’ve had the opportunity to chat with
so many wonderful gals of faith in the
music industry. Who or what was one of
the most captivating conversations with
a female Christian artist that truly
surprised or brought you unexpected joy?
Plumb would be number one followed by
Natalie Grant. Both ladies are amazingly
honest and transparent. Plumb openly
shared her struggles with panic attacks and
going through a period where she felt like
she was too cool for Christian music. She
talks about surrendering those feelings to
God, which was around when the song ‘Lord
I’m Ready Now’ was released. She came back
to the Christian genre full force.

I interviewed Natalie Grant in person and
although I don't have a sister it felt like I was
talking to mine. There were no nerves or
stress. With her it just felt easy. She is just
that cool!
How do female Christian singers bring a
unique touch to their music and
messaging compared to male artists?
Many female Christian artists share
messages about our self worth as women
which we struggle with, and our beauty in
God's eyes. Such as “You Say” (Lauren Daigle),
and “Who you Say I Am” Hillsong. Songs like
“What a Beautiful Name” bring a touch of
femininity and beauty to God's love that you
may not hear from a male singer.

Interviews generally go in the direction
based on questions that I ask. With female
Christian artists I always want to know what
God is doing in their life, obstacles they've
overcome, managing the road and family
dynamics, and challenges facing their
personal value and being enough.
Are there common themes or essential
messages that female Christian singers
frequently emphasize in their interviews?

Discuss the challenges that female
Christian vocalists encounter in the music
industry from a broad perspective and
interviews with them.
One of the biggest challenges is juggling
career, touring, and family. Some Christian
families tour together, however, often a
male artist will tour while the wife stays
home. Female Christian artists may have to
make more choices, like missing a concert or
speaking engagement in lieu of family
needs. They are more likely to bring their
children or families with them on tour.

Share insights on how interacting with
female Christian artists has influenced
and made an impact in your life.
What's impacted me most is that all the
female Christian artists I've met with the
exception of one were incredibly kind and
genuine individuals. In addition, I've been in
radio for 30 years and worked in the secular
industry too. Almost every artist I have ever
met has been extraordinarily kind and down
to earth, even Alan Jackson LOL. The news
media loves to pit female artists against one
another constantly and point out their egos
and unrealistic demands. The truth is, I
haven't seen this. Most of them are just like us.
Answer
It's hard to say with regards to faith because
many Christian artists don't write their own
music so there can be a depth in song
beyond their years. I would say that the
industry is tough and people can be cruel.
New Christian artists often have rose
colored glasses. Twenty or more years in the
entertainment industry can make an artist
lose their faith or become jaded if they do
not stay connected to God.
How does the world view vary between a
budding Christian artist perspective and
a seasoned female artist with decades of
experience in the industry?
Answer
Well, it helps to be in Nashville! I would say if
it's your dream don't give up. It's a very
difficult industry and it's tough to make it, It
generally takes about a decade to get
noticed. Try not to listen to anyone who tears
you down. Constructive criticism is great, but
criticism for the sake of criticism isn't helpful.
Share valuable advice for aspiring female
Christian vocalists aiming to make an
impact in the music industry!

Yes, I was extraordinarily
starstruck and crushing on Mac
Powell lead singer of Third Day
when I met him over 20 years ago.
I had this clunky recorder I brought
to the concert to record this
interview. I dropped it on his foot
and apologized profusely and
stumbled through some questions.
He was very kind and gracious and
beautiful L O L !
If you had the opportunity to interview
any Christian female artist (singer, writer,
speaker, etc.) for your dream interview,
who would that special someone be and
what's the reason behind your choice?
Artist: To talk with Darlene Zschech would
be amazing. She has been around through so
many changes in the industry. ‘Shout to the
Lord’ was the first Christian song I ever
heard. I was not a Christian at the time and it
had an impact on me.

flying under the radar that we should
listen to and add to our playlists?
Terrian, from Toby Mac’s Diverse City and
Iveth Luna who is a fantastic worship music
artist.

An artist has to have exceptional musical talent. What
I have found in the Christian music industry is that
ego can be very limiting, particularly for females in
the industry. I've noticed that the individuals who
reach musical peaks and success tend to walk the talk.
While those that don't tend to be phased out.
From your unique perspective, what makes a
female Christian vocalist exceptionally special
and impactful, enabling them to reach high
musical peaks?
Answer
Speaker: Joyce Meyer. She has helped me
immensely in several areas regarding
biblical mental health.
Writer: Staci Eldridge - the book
‘Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a
Woman Soul’ was life-changing.
